At Smart Buildings Academy (SBA) you will strategically sell SaaS and workforce development training solutions by leading consultative, insight driven conversations that uncover operational gaps, quantify the cost of inaction, and drive change with a clear business case and strong ROI.

 

The Role

Fully remote, work from home office (within the continental USA) with up to 25 percent paid travel for trade shows and key meetings. You will prospect, diagnose, and close new business while expanding existing client accounts. Success comes from running a disciplined full cycle sales process that challenges client thinking and builds urgency around measurable outcomes.

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • OTE: $132,000 year one; $168,000 year two

  • Commissions: Uncapped

What You Will Do:

  • Make a high volume of outbound prospecting calls daily to generate new pipeline and convert segmented vertical targets into qualified opportunities.

  • Lead discovery that identifies the customer’s current state, desired future state, and the gap between them, then help the prospective customer navigate their journey to their desired future state.

  • Quantify impact of Sales, Project Managers, and Technician labor shortages, delayed projects, rework, overtime, turnover, and missed revenue tied to skill gaps.

  • Teach clients new trends and proven strategies on workforce performance and training ROI, then tailor the solution to their environment.

  • Demo to prospective clients the SBA solutions and platforms.

  • Build consensus with economic buyers and operational leaders, and guide next steps with clear mutual action plans.

  • Generate new business through outbound prospecting and consultative sales processes leveraging Gap Selling and The Challenger Sale methodologies.

  • Own the full sales cycle from first contact to closed WON, including forecasting and pipeline hygiene utilizing HubSpot.

  • Develop clear and succinct presentations, proposals and ROI cases and concisely present to prospective and existing clients.

  • Respond quickly to inbound leads and convert interest into structured discovery and demo calls.

  • Grow revenue within existing partner accounts through expansion and renewal strategies.

  • Attend client meetings, trade shows, and industry events to build pipeline and accelerate deals.

  • Recommend new course offerings to SBA leadership, based on market needs and direct client feedback.

  • Maintain expert product knowledge and consult confidently on the right workforce development and training paths.

  • Use HubSpot to document activity, manage pipeline stages, and maintain clean data.


What You Bring:

  • Experience with consultative and strategic selling, in SaaS, PropTech, IoT, Building Automation, HVAC Controls, Industrial Controls or adjacent trades (i.e. Commercial HVAC, Security, Fire/Life Safety, and/or A/V).

  • A consultative and strategic mindset, you ask intuitive questions, push for clarity, and do not accept vague answers.

  • The ability to clearly and succinctly teach prospective clients about the SBA value propositions.

  • Ability to run structured discovery & demo online meetings, quantify business impact, and sell to both operators and executives.

  • Comfortable challenging “status quo” thinking with credibility and respect.

  • High drive, resilience, accountability, and coachability.

  • College degree not required.
